Manufacturing Analytics Event
February 1, 2016

Representatives from a range of UK manufacturing and technology sectors (SME and established companies), research councils, academics, government policy makers and manufacturing magazine professional are attended the Manufacturing Analytics Event. The event was hosted at the Institute for Manufacturing, University of Cambridge. The workshop explored the role Big Data will play to identify research priorities and address the specific challenges encountered by Manufacturers in using data science. The utilisation of data combined will bring unprecedented opportunities, along with new risks, to business and society. However, using Big Data in manufacturing is currently in its early stages. Many important questions remain, including how it will impact existing industries, value chains, business models and workforces, and what actions business and government leaders need to take now to ensure long-term success. As an outcome of this workshop a white paper to summarise the key challenges, recommendations and research priorities. It also will include the immediate opportunities and next steps for research. A longer term vision for potential future research and funding opportunities in this area
